reservation. Weekends, Holidays, Spring Break and the Summer we

What happens if there is bad weather before or during my kayak rental?

Our staff keeps a watchful eye out for bad weather. This is Florida and in the summer time rain storms can form quickly. If we see bad weather prior to your arrival we will email you to inquire if you would like to cancel or reschedule. If you have arrived for your kayak rental and there are storms keeping us from launching you on your adventure, we will offer you a refund or the option to wait for the weather to clear up. If you have arrived for your kayak rental under ideal conditions with the possibility of rain, we will inform you that rain may be possible and to keep an eye on the sky. Refunds are not issued once we have launched you on your kayak rental adventure.

How early should I arrive for my kayak rental?

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your kayak rental reservation to get fitted for a life vest, sign waiver forms and listen to the safety briefing.

What should I bring to my kayak rental?

You will want to bring three important items: proper footwear, drinks and sun protection. The Halifax River has shells and oysters in some areas. You will be required to wear proper foot protection at all times. Proper footwear will be any closed toe shoe you are willing to get wet. Sandals and flip flops are not allowed. Spending time on the water kayaking will dehydrate you. Please bring plenty of drinks for your adventure. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed. The Florida sun can be unforgiving. We highly suggest wearing proper sun protection. Long sleeve sun shirts and hats are the best option along with plenty of sunblock. If you arrive at the concession and forgot proper footwear or drinks, we have you covered. We sell closed toe water shoes and drinks at the concession.

What can I expect to see during my kayak rental?

The Halifax River is teaming with wildlife. Depending on the time of year and other factors such as tide and weather, you may see Manatees, Dolphins, Cormorants, Osprey, Pelicans and much more.

Can I bring my dog on my kayak rental?

Yes, of course. Just a few things to know. While in the park you must abide by the park rules in regards to animals. We do not provide life vests for dogs. Your weight plus your dogs weight must not exceed the maximum capacity for the kayak or we cannot allow you to take them with you.

What is the weight limit of the rental kayak?

Single kayaks have a maximum weight capacity of 250lbs. Double kayaks have a maximum weight capacity of 500lbs.
